Porsche road rage accused weighs his options

FERNDALE – Accused may accept a settlement or try defend himself of charges in court.

The man charged with common assault and malicious damage to property for his actions during a road rage incident on Witkoppen Road, Fourways, in July (see previous article) said that he is weighing his options. He appeared in court on 07 October, where his case was postponed for the fourth time, to 11 November, as his attorney needed to review documents related to the case.

Speaking exclusively to the Randburg Sun afterwards, the man, whose name is known to the newspaper, said that he has been offered a settlement. Depending on the content of the documents, and his attorney’s advice, the man will either accept the settlement or try defend his case in court.

With video footage of the incident, showing the man (a passenger of a Porsche) tussle with a Volkswagen driver through the window (allegedly punching him), kicking the vehicle and throwing the driver’s car keys away, there is sufficient reason for the man to accept the settlement.

The accused promised a more extensive interview with the Randburg Sun after the issue is resolved.

Details: Randburg Magistrates’ Court 011 998 5300.
