Bordeaux North hosts Spring day fundraiser

Community members unite at the Bordeaux North fundraiser.

Residents visited a park on the corner of Republic Road and Main Street in Bordeaux North on 6 September.

The Spring Day gathering was held in order to raise funds for the Bordeaux North Community Forum (BNCF) as well as create an environment for members of the community to unite for their suburb.

Chairperson for BNCF, Shanaaz Bailey suggested, ”Our annual Spring Day fundraiser is used to create awareness for the need to keep our area clear, safe, clean and to upgrade the area.”

Bailey says the forum has hired a full-time gardener to work on the public gardens along Main Street and View Road.

Former chairperson Charles Smith commented, ”[We] would like to remind people that this area is still a suburb with a thriving neighbourhood.”

The day saw the likes of a braai-boasted hamburgers and chicken rolls, cold drinks and cupcakes with lots of fun for the whole family.

Resident Annett du Plessis explained, ”We were thrilled to have an event like this again, one that gets everyone involved.”

Even Randburg Police showed up to give their support.

Captain Brent Kur of Randburg Police commented, ”SAPS was invited to listen to the concerns [of the residents] and build relationships with them.”
