Station commander’s operation a success

HONEYDEW – An operation by Honeydew police yields fruitful results with more than ten arrests made on 29 August.

The Honeydew Police Station commander’s weekly operation for week ending 29 August proved fruitful.

Spokesperson for Honeydew Police Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs said the operation took place between 9am and 4pm on 29 August.

Police officers from the station visited high-crime spots around the Honeydew precinct identified by the station commander Brigadier Wayne Sirkhot.

During the operation, two illegal liquor outlets were raided and liquor was confiscated.

“Stop and searches were conducted in hotspot areas in the Honeydew Police Station precinct,” added Jacobs.

She further said foot patrols were conducted in problematic greenbelt areas.

The arrests made during the operation included one suspect arrested for possession of drugs; five suspects for possession of dagga; two suspects for dealing in liquor and five illegal immigrants were arrested.
