In2touch rugby at Old Parks

BORDEAUX – Keep fit, socialise and play touch rugby.

In2touch touch-rugby will begin their spring season in September, and all Randburg residents are invited to join in on the fitness craze.

“Touch-rugby is one of the fastest growing sports in South Africa,” says In2touch assistant manager, Budgie Diya. “It’s a fantastic sport that can be played as an extra mural or social activity, or on a competitive basis where players are able to achieve provincial and national colours.”

The version played in South Africa is called ‘1-touch’, which differs from the international 6-touch played by both sexes in the UK, Australia and USA, and is a quick game which requires more skill and agility.

In2touch has been running touch-rugby leagues in South Africa since 1995 and apart from Old Parktonians, also hosts leagues at Jeppe Quondam and Zoo Lake Sports Club in Joburg.

“Touch-rugby is played by both men and women and is enjoyed around the world as a mixed team code,” continues Diya. “It’s great fun for couples and friends to get fit socially. Our spring season starts in September and runs through all the warm summer evenings until the December holidays, so it is a great way to get in shape.”
