Fontainebleau Park littered again shortly after residents’ clean-up.

An UPDATE on the Fontainebleau Bike Parl clean up on Fifth Avenue is still unsafe for children and residents.

Fontainebleau Park on Fifth Avenue underwent a large community clean-up on 2 August by residents from Robinhills , Fontainebleau and cubs of Robinhills Scouts (https://www.citizen.co.za/randburg-sun/233827/community-cleans-up-fontainebleau-bike-park).

The park was cleared of bottles, litter and other debris. Now, just over a week later, it seems that the park is back to square one.

A concerned resident of Robinhills has expressed his ”concern for the safety of the children that play in the park, as it is seen that fires and litter are still rampant in the park.’.

Ward councillor 104, Mike Wood has yet again been in contact with City Parks in connection with the upkeep of the parks.

At a local Community Policing Forum (CPF) meeting, lines of communication were established between JMPD acting deputy director Mike Smith and the members of the community.

Natalie Morton of Fontainebleau has indicated that they will be organising a Spring Day at the park.

This will be an event where the children of the area can visit and ride their bikes in the safety of adults and other residents wishing to participate.

Morton believes that Spring Day will, ”bring in even more residential participation in the upkeep of the park and will hopefully encourage local businesses to facilitate methods of keeping the park safe [fencing or increased security].”

The details for the Spring Day will be posted in due course.
