This was also the first time a team conceded seven goals at the knockout stage of the world cup.

Germany completely dominated Brazil, scoring four goals in six minutes, and continually dissected Brazil’s defence to reach the final on 13 July, against the winner of tonight’s Netherlands and Argentina match.

Germany scored all seven of their goals first.

Thomas Müller prodded the ball in from close range, while unmarked, from a corner in the 11th minute.

Germany striker Miroslav Klose ensured that no one would ever forget his participation in the match, when he scored his 16th world cup goal, the most by any player, surpassing ex-Brazil striker Ronaldo.

Klose’s first shot was blocked by Brazil goalkeeper Julio Cesar but he made sure of the second attempt, running around Cesar and shooting into the bottom right corner in the 23rd minute.

Toni Kroos scored twice for Germany, the first a powerful shot into the bottom left corner from the edge of the box in the 24th minute, and the second a finish from close range after Brazil lost possession in its own half in the 26th minute.

Sami Khedira scored by shooting into the left of the goal after another break and teammate Mezut Özil laid the ball back to him to score in the 29th minute.
