Car hijacking in Fontainebleau

FONTAINEBLEAU - Constable Carol Mulamu spokesperson of the Linden Police advises residents to call the police should they know any information regarding car hijacking.

A car hijacking incident took place in Linden Police Sector 1 – Maria Street, Fountainebleau on 11 June.

According to the complaint, there were three black males who arrived on foot, one had a firearm.

“They asked for the remote for the gate to gain access to the property. I assume they knew our schedule and intended to rob us while we were home because it seemed as though they had been waiting for us. The whole thing took no more than 45 seconds and they were gone,” explained the complainant.

Linden Police spokesperson Constable Carol Mulamu said complainant’s daughter was approached by three unknown suspects.

One of the suspects pointed a firearm at him and opened the vehicle’s door.

“The suspects demanded his cellphone, keys and wrist watch. The suspects fled the scene with the complainant’s vehicle, a metallic blue Kia Cerato. No shots were fired and no one was injured. No arrests have been made yet,” said Mulamu.

Police are investigating a case of armed robbery and theft of the motor vehicle.

They ask the community to contact Linden Police Station if they have any information regarding this case.

Mulamu urges residents to be alert at all times and be extra vigilant of people walking toward or past the gate when coming and going.

“Please do not enter your property if there are people in the street, rather drive around the block. Report suspicious people at any time and if you can’t get hold of the police sector vehicle, call your security provider.”
