Douglasdale Community Policing Forum together with the Douglasdale police hosted a fun day for Sector 1 residents at the Market Street Park on 7 June.
The fun day was part of the Sectors’s Know your neighbour campaign, which seeks to encourage residents to introduce themselves to each other and establish a relationship among themselves.
Good food, good music and fun games for the children were provided at the event and fun activities such as jumping castles, jungle gym, and horse riding.
Residents had the chance to also meet the local business people and local security companies. This was a great platform for the companies to bond and network with the community.
Douglasdale Police Sector 1 manager Constable Bernicia Subroyan said, “This was a great initiative for residents to meet each other in the efforts of preventing crime. I am certain this will help bridge the gap between the police and the local business, and also bridge the gap between the residents and police.”
Subroyan stated that the fun day was only the beginning as the policing forum and the police are planning to have at least two more events. “People who could not attend this one should definitely come to the next two as this brings the community to unite against crime.”
