Curro Aurora comes out on top

SUNDOWNER - Curro Aurora pupils come out tops of the winning chain at a golf championship.

Curro Aurora School golf team did exceptionally well at the Woodlands Junior Masters Golf Championship.

“There were 152 people taking part in the championship of which 100 were in the A division and 52 in the B division. Both divisions’ scores were counted and Curro Aurora came out on top, winning with 16 points on the Serengeti Golf Estate,” explained Hardus van der Merwe, Curro Aurora golf coordinator-North.

Van der Mewe said the team members played their hearts out and represented their school well. “This tournament was for school pupils and tertiary students. We invited two primary school golfers to complete the team of six players. In the A division, with our four high school golfers who finished under the top 10, and in the B division, the two primary school golfers who finished top four, we made enough points to beat previous winners from Pretoria Boys High School with 16 points.”

The individual winner in the B division, Woo-Ju Son, made 13 points more than the other players and won the B division championship by five points. She played a two under par with a score of 70 over the 18 holes.

“We congratulate all our golfers who put in the effort; we also thank the parents for supporting them all the way. We have put in a lot of hours to make sure we did our best; all the time put in to do well paid off.
