Yeshua Moraka: artist on the move

WINDSOR - Yeshua Moraka will be representing South Africa in Orlando, Florida to showcase his talents.

Windsor resident Yeshua Moraka (23) was raised in a music loving home which encouraged him to aspire to be in the industry.

“I love music and I wanted [to have] the opportunity to capture and captivate the listener. Although I am yet to record my own work, I have worked with other up-and-coming artists and through this, I have identified my genre which is a fusion of indie folk and experimental poetic rap,” said Moraka.

He stated that although he is not yet perfect in his craft, he has been spending a lot of time practicing, especially with his new-found guitar. He hopes to someday be an extraordinary artist who is able to tackle all the challenges that come his way and leave the world with a fat footprint.

Moraka left his job as an assistant teacher at New South Baptist Christian School to focus on his acting, modelling and music career.

“My music, modelling and acting careers have not exploded as yet. However, when I was auditioning for the New York Film Academy I subsequently got scouted and signed by Just You Model and Artist Management in Rivonia.”

He had the privilege of auditioning for Kim Myers, an international talent scout, and was invited to attend the Applause Rising Talent Showcase at The World Marriot Centre in Orlando, Florida in June this year.

“I will be in the United States of America for two weeks. The showcase will introduce top industry talent scouts, agents, and record labels.

“My biggest intention is to showcase South African talent and add on to the good work that’s been done by my predecessors. I hope to find a sponsor to help me achieve my dream.”
