Randburg taxi rank graced with cleanliness

RANDBURG - A local church helped the Randburg taxi rank stay keep clean.

The Omega Fire Ministries Church’s social welfare department, called the Gift of Grace, did there part to help the community by cleaning up the Randburg taxi rank. The Gift of Grace’s main objective is to contribute to the upliftment of communities and change people’s lives.

“The church’s social welfare has been involved with numerous community projects which include finding homes for orphans and doing clean-up campaigns in Johannesburg,” said Ryan Jaiyeola, member of the Gift of Grace.

During the clean up the church picked up litter around the taxi rank and motivated other people to keep Randburg taxi rank clean. “The rank is used by a numerous commuters and it is the centre of Randburg, therefore we thought it was better to do a clean up there,” explained Jaiyeola.

“If we going to start cleaning Johannesburg we needed to start with people and places close to us first. The rank was our first option because it is adjacent our church. We hope our first exercise gave us the exposure we needed to get the community involved in future cleaning exercises,” he added.

Spokesperson for the Randburg taxi rank, Johannes Rammala, said he was pleased that the Omega Fire Ministries came to help them, by cleaning the rank. He urged commuters, taxi drivers and the formal traders at the market to also play their part by not littering.

“We welcome any help from government, local business, and the community,” concluded Rammala.
