Pastor denies sewage leak from his house

BLAIGOWRIE - Residents complain about sewage leaking from a private house.

Despite concerns from his neighbours about sewage coming out from his rented property, Pastor Barnabas Dlamini claims to have no knowledge about it.

“It is my first time to hear about it from you. No one has complained to me,” says Dlamini. He said he was unaware that there was a water pipe coming out from the house to the street and as far as his understanding there is no water coming out from his house to the street. “There are some renovations taking place in the property but I am unaware of any water leaking out to the streets,” he added.

Dlamini’s rented property is at the corner of Condon and Pekin Road in Blairgowrie. “I am renting the property and I will speak to the owner and find out about this water pipe,” he added. His neighbour, Carol Gray called Randburg Sun complaining about ‘a filthy, smelly’ sewage water coming out from the Dlamini house to the street.

“We have approached and complained to him but he seems not to be doing anything. This is unacceptable and we have lived here for many years and had no such experiences,” Gray mentioned.

Another neighbour from across the road in Condon, who refused to have her name published in the newspaper said she is aware of the renovations taking place in the Dlamini house. “They have a pool and the water that is coming out of the pipe is green and must be from the dirty pool,” she claimed. “Ever since the pastor and his wife moved into the property, we had problems with them. Their dogs run into the streets, they park cars all over the streets with noise coming out from their house. My husband has approached them several times but they seem not to have respect for their neighbours.

Attempts to get comments from Johannesburg Water’s Communication and Marketing Manager were in vain up until the press. Johannesburg Water owns and manages wastewater treatment works treating all the domestic sewage and industrial effluents discharged to its sewers.
