Drug busts and arrests in Randburg

RANDBURG – Honeydew police make 263 drug-related arrests in a week.

A drug intervention operation conducted by the Honeydew police led to the arrests of 263 people from 1 March to 26 March.

According to the police, 173 of these drug-related arrests were made between 21 and 26 March, when a provincial team was assisting in this operation.

Some of these arrests were made in Randburg suburbs which are under the Honeydew police control.

“Drugs is[are] all over,” said Honeydew police spokesperson Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs.

“Every area is affected. These statistics are of our entire precinct.”

In one incident, a man found to be in possession of drugs agreed to lead the police to storage containers in Wilgespruit, Honeydew, where 517kg of dagga were found.

The police said this is an ongoing operation.
