The Public Investment Corporation (PIC), in collaboration with Imbatha Solutions Pty (Ltd), officially handed over 15 newly-constructed ablution facilities at Poelano Secondary School in Goedgevonden Village, Ventersdorp, on Tuesday, 31 January 2023.

The facilities will restore the dignity of learners who previously had no access to ablution facilities at their school. At this handover, Poelano Secondary School got seven flush toilets and four water basins for the girls and five flush toilets, three urinal sections and four water basins for the boys.

The School Governing Body (SGB) chairperson, Ms Mbandezi, the principal Mr Mhlanga and the district and circuit representatives from the Department of Education attended the handover at the school. “We are thrilled and appreciative of the bathroom facilities.

We have been using unsafe sanitary facilities. Providing these bathrooms for the learners will have a significant impact on their development,” Mhlanga said. Besides the new facilities, the PIC’s support of the school and its learners included the donation of sanitary bins for the girls’ toilets and 200 hygiene care packs were distributed to the learners.
