Potent Volkswagen Amarok V6 with 190 kW now on sale in Mzansi

The Amarok model range now consists of the following engines; the 2.0 BiTDI 132kW and the 3.0 V6 TDI 190kW.

Volkswagen South Africa has finally released the pricing of its 190 kW Amarok bakkie that is aimed at celebrating the bakkie’s 10 years in Mzansi.

Within the past decade, the Wolfsburg-based automaker sold over 37 000 units of the Amarok.

The Amarok model range now consists of the following engines; the 2.0 BiTDI 132kW and the 3.0 V6 TDI 190kW.

Powering the new Amarok is a 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine with 190 kW of grunt and 580 Nm of torque – that is 25 kW and 30 Nm more than the 165 kW model.

All that amount of oomph is accessible via a standard eight-speed automatic gearbox giving it a spring of 7.6 seconds to 100 km/h en route to a top speed of 207 km/h.

There is an over-boost function that increases power to 200 kW for 10 seconds.

The average fuel consumption is 9.5 litres per 100 kilometres. Off-road ABS and stability control enhance the Amarok’s safety features and four disc brakes all round give the Amarok V6 190kW enormous stopping power.

The Amarok also has the largest bin, largest loading width and the largest cabin in its class.
