Klaserie has to be one of the lesser-known game reserves in South Africa, bordering with the world-renowned Kruger National Park and Timbavati Private Game Reserve. The reserve forms part of the greater Kruger Park and spans across 60 000 hectares of untouched wilderness. The Klaserie River runs through the reserve and is a vital source of water for wildlife.

Klaserie Private Game Reserve is home to varied landscapes and a variety of wildlife species. It’s big game country, with the Klaserie lions taking centre stage. There are also over 300 species of birds, including various eagles, owls, francolins, kingfishers, rollers and weavers.

Gomo Gomo Game Lodge is perfect for couples and families who are looking for a relaxed ambiance, offering the choice between one and two bedroom chalets with en-suite bathrooms. The lodge facilities include a swimming pool, dining area, lounge and outdoor boma.

Africa on Foot is a charming camp with five rustic chalets, a swimming pool, braai facilities,outdoor boma and a gorgeous sundeck. Adventurous couples and families can enjoy a sleep-out experience in the bush, with the Africa on Foot treehouse accommodating up to four guests and boasting a lounge area on the first floor, along with an outdoor bathroom and shower.

nThambo Tree Camp is small and eco-friendly, boasting only five wooden tented chalets that are raised up on stilts. Each chalet is equipped with comfortable beds, mosquito netting, en-suite bathrooms, fans and a verandah. The main area features a lounge and bar area, dining room, swimming pool and outdoor boma.

Klaserie River Safari Lodge is modern and comfortable, with 11 thatched chalets that offer uninterrupted views of the Klaserie River. Each of the chalets boast comfortable beds. En-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, coffee and tea making facilities, minibars, and shaded wooden decks. Guests are welcome to enjoy the incredible facilities at the lodge, which include a swimming pool, dining area, bar and outdoor boma activities are led by highly trained guides and include morning and late afternoon/evening open-vehicle game drives, as well as guided bush walks which offer a closer look at the diverse African bush. Visits to the region can also be arranged around bird watching, with bird hides present in some areas of the reserve.

Other activities that can be arranged include guided tours of Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, cultural village tours, hot air ballooning, boat cruises on the Blyde River, panorama route tours and horseback safaris.
