“Maybe you were made for just such a time as this”

Mordecai said to Esther: “Who knows? Maybe you were made a queen for just such a time as this.” (Esther 4:14)
Through the ages, God has raised many mighty men and women at specific times to do a specific task so that He (God) could be revealed in a specific way to specific people. The one thing these men and woman had in common was their complete or utter trust in God.

Was it Moses that parted the see? Was it Joshua or the shouting of the Israelites that made Jericho’s walls fell? Moses and the Israelites came to the sea and God said in Exodus 14: 15 – 18 “The LORD said to Moses, “Why are you crying out for help? Tell the people to move forward.

Lift up your walking stick and hold it out over the sea. The water will divide, and the Israelites will be able to walk through the sea on dry ground. I will make the Egyptians so stubborn that they will go in after them, and I will gain honour by my victory over the king, his army, his chariots, and his drivers. When I defeat them, the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD.” So Moses merely trusted the Lord, lifted his rod and God parted the sea so that they could walk across on dry land as can be seen in Exodus 14:21

“Moses held out his hand over the sea, and the LORD drove the sea back with a strong east wind. It blew all night and turned the sea into dry land. The water was divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with walls of water on both sides.”

We read in Joshua 6 of the fall of Jericho. God instructed Joshua to walk around the city once for six days. On the seventh day, they had to go around seven times and then they had to sound the trumpets and shout. In Joshua 6:2 we read that the LORD said to Joshua, “I am putting into your hands Jericho, with its king and all its brave soldiers.” Joshua placed his trust in God, did what God said and God gave them the city.

David said to Goliath in1 Samuel “You are coming against me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the Israelite armies, which you have defied.” (1 Samuel 17:45) David placed his trust in the Lord and, in return, the Lord gave David the victory.

Yes, you and I were made for a time like this. Yes, God has a plan and a purpose to reveal Him in us and through us in these times. But, we need to stop relying on ourselves or other mortals.

We cannot defeat the giants by ourselves. But, when we place our trust in the Lord Jesus Christ, He will reveal Himself. He will save, heal, protect, guide and use us to His glory.
