North West won their first match against Mpumalanga by 58 runs after scoring 189/9. The Dragons bowlers came to the party, bowling the opposition out for 131.

Issa Bulbulia with 54 and Eduard Dreyer with 53 top scored for the Dragons. Sontjane took 3/19 with the ball for the Dragons.

North West next took on Kei and completely dismantled them. They bowled Kei out for a paltry 30 runs to win the match by 127 runs. Sontjane, once again, starred, taking 4/8 with the ball. Jahndré Coetzee (3/15) and Olefa Padi (2/3) also chipped in. Coetzee made an unbeaten 32 earlier with the bat to cap a fine all-round performance on the day.

The Dragons’ match against Border was abandoned on day 3, due to rain.

The fourth day saw North West get a lesson on how to win a game single-handedly. Trent Huisamen of the SWD Garden Route Badgers took 7/18 with the ball and hit 50 to inspire his side to a 96-run victory. SWD made 158 with the bat before Huisamen skittled out the Dragons for only 62. Callie Fryer was the top batsman with 17 for the Dragons.

The extras total even surpassed that, with 18 runs being gifted to North West.
