The highly anticipated charity MMA fight between Potchefstroom’s Roevan de Beer and Angolan MMA Champ, Demarte Pena, ended in a hugely entertaining win for Pena on Angolan soil on Saturday, 2 December.

Pena beat De Beer in this fight in the second round after connecting with 66 punches. De Beer managed to defend himself in a vulnerable position, but it was not enough as Pena took the win.

Demarte Pena and Roevan de Beer made history by main eventing the first professional MMA event in Angola on Saturday, 2 December 2023.

According to De Beer this fight shows that he is ready for another international fight.

“It was a privilege to be part of the main event in Angola’s first pro MMA event. I almost caught Pena with a triangle submission and he was rocked during parts of the fight. Against a top-level opponent like him you only get a couple of chances and you need to take them. I had my chances, but he was really good in his execution,” added De Beer.
