The first round of matches in the North West Club Cricket T20 Premier League A produced numerous close and well-contested encounters on Saturday, 4 November.
The NWU 1 and Ibbies match met expectations, with Ibbies picking up a six-wicket win with 15 balls to spare. NWU 1 made 203/9, with SW Kemp top-scoring with a blistering 47 (17).
Ibbies’ batsmen Jared Fuchs (83* off 51 balls) and Corné Prinsloo with 66 (27) brought even more firepower with some big hitting to set up the win. Fuchs continued his impressive form with a 67 (48) against Taurus as Ibbies won the inter-NWU match at the Ibbies Oval by 50 runs.

Ibbies made 140/7 in 20 overs before bowling Taurus out for 90. Tyron Evitts (4/45) and Larno Botha (3/23) impressed for Ibbies with the ball. Potch Dorp 1 also picked up two 16-run wins against Reinke 9T20 and Impala Cricket Club from Rustenburg.
Renier Bosman hit a quick-fire 64 (37) against Reinke 9T20 to set up his side’s imposing total of 202/7. Wihan Cornelius, with 59 (45), played some top shots and, together, Carlo Erasmus (23 off 20 balls) built a solid stand.
However, their wickets dented Reinke’s chances, with Potch Dorp left-arm spinner Ettienne Beukes (2/25) standing out. DG Fourie hit a quick 36 (28), but it was not enough as Dorp took the win.
