Dragons on top against Warriors

The Dragons bowlers struck to their guns to restrict the Warriors to 197/5 after 70.5 overs. This after the Dragons had posted a good first innings total of 426/9 declared.

The North West Dragons had another successful day at the J.B. Marks Oval yesterday (Sunday, 5 November) on day 2 of their CSA 4-day Cup match against the Warriors.

The Dragons bowlers struck to their guns to restrict the Warriors to 197/5 after 70.5 overs. This after the Dragons had posted a good first innings total of 426/9 declared.

Migael Pretorius hit his debut first class century with a thrilling 109* (114) as he pushed on after making 38 on day 1 at stumps.

The Dragons made the most of their momentum as Duan Jansen (3/26) from 10.5 overs ripped the heart out of the Warriors batting order.

He took the wickets of Matthew Breetzke for 14, Diego Rosier for 11 and broke the 92-run partnership for the fifth wicket between Sinethemba Qeshile and Rudi Second. He had Qeshile (42 off 75 balls) caught behind with the final delivery of the day to get a massive wicket for the hosts.

Pretorius also impressed with the ball as he got rid of Tristan Stubbs (29 off 91 balls) with a superb inswinger that had the stumps flying.

The Dragons bowlers will look to take quick wickets this morning to put the pressure firmly on the Warriors, who currently trailed by 229 runs.

Second (64* from 119 balls) is still at the crease with Patrick Kruger, yet to face a delivery.
