Dragons start strong against Western Province

They are currently on 162/3 after 32 overs with Dragons debutant Raynard van Tonder on a well-crafted 70* (84) and Senuran Muthusamy (15* off 19) at the crease.

The North West Dragons batters are enjoying the sunny conditions at the J.B. Marks Oval today (Saturday, 16 September) in their first match of the CSA One Day Cup campaign against Western Province.

The Dragons won the toss and decided to bat first on a pristine batting track under clear skies. They are currently on 162/3 after 32 overs with Dragons debutant Raynard van Tonder on a well-crafted 70* (84) and Senuran Muthusamy (15* off 19) at the crease.

Wihan Lubbe (46 from 46 balls) and Van Tonder put together a 98-run partnership for the third wicket. Lubbe though was earlier dropped on 0 and survived a run-out chance on 18. His luck ran out when a mistimed pull found Eddie Moore at deep square leg.

Western Province’s left arm seamers, Nandré Burger (1/23) off 6 and Beuran Hendricks (1/13) off 4 has been the pick of the visitors’ attack.
