Potch Dorp makes light work of Taurus

A superb 155 from Van Zyl Smit led the charge to victory for Potch Dorp as they scored 289/8 at the Ibbies’ Oval.

Potchefstroom Dorp Cricket Club completed a convincing 147-run win against NWU Taurus in last weekend’s Wohnen/Top Paints NW Club Premier League fixtures on Saturday, 19 March.

A superb 155 from Van Zyl Smit led the charge to victory for Potch Dorp as they scored 289/8 at the Ibbies’ Oval. Taurus had no reply to Potch Dorp’s bowlers as Corné Prinsloo (2/9) from 6 overs and Zian de Jager (3/39) from 7.5 overs restricted the home side to 142 all out.

Kamogelo Mphahlele was the top scorer for Taurus with 26* (17).

NWU 1 strengthened their position at the top of the table with an 83-run win against Travelling Reefs in Klerksdorp. NWU posted 213 all out, with Eben Botha top-scoring with 55 (60).

NWU’s bowlers were too good for Travelling Reefs, bowling them out for 130. Frederik Kotze (4/23) was the pick of the NWU bowlers. NWU Ibbies also won a close, low-scoring game against Impala by 4 wickets at the NWU Oval.

Impala hit 194 all out, thanks largely to Stian Swanepoel’s 81 (87). Ibbies completed the victory due to the batting efforts of Thabang Baloyi (47 off 62) and Wehan van Rooyen (40 off 50). Ibbies reached the target with 6.1 overs to spare.
