De Beer and Saaiman square off for bantamweight title opportunity

The fight presents a massive opportunity for De Beer to get a shot at the title and stake his claim as one of the top contenders in the division.

The Potch-based Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) MMA fighter, Roevan de Beer, is ready to go to war in his number one contender bantamweight fight against Cameron Saaiman at EFC 92 on Saturday, 5 March.

The fight presents a massive opportunity for De Beer to get a shot at the title and stake his claim as one of the top contenders in the division.

De Beer, representing Coalition Grappling Academy, has been on quite a roll of late, coming off a win against Orlando Machava at EFC 88 in August last year.

He would have faced off against Saaiman, but the latter had to withdraw from the fight last year. Now, De Beer has his chance to finally take on Saaiman in what promises to be a highly-anticipated contest on the main card.

The 21-year old Saaiman has yet to lose a match in EFC and will want to continue his winning run. Saaiman’s strengths are his unorthodox southpaw stance, agility and his youthful exuberance. The 34-year-old De Beer brings experience and a never-say-die attitude to the table and a superbly well-rounded game plan.

“The preparation for the fight has gone smoothly and I feel I am in the best shape I have ever been in for a fight. The number one contender’s spot is on the line and it promises to be one of the best fights on the card. It’s one fight away from a title match, which makes it exciting. I would never have dreamt of being in this position when I started in EFC and I am very satisfied with where I am at the moment,” he added.

De Beer has also been in the privileged position of training with the experienced pro MMA fighter, Frederich Naumann in the build-up to EFC 92. De Beer also states that his rise to the top shows that fighters do not have to go to the bigger cities to make a name for themselves.

“I am proof that you do not have to leave Potch to reach the top. The guys I am currently coaching are proof that there is a lot of talent in Potch and they can go even further than I have,” he stated.

A win for De Beer will give him the chance to fight for the EFC Bantamweight title against Sindile Manengela shortly.
