She is currently the number one ranked ODI batter in the world. Her form also helped South Africa to number two spot in the ICC rankings.

“I have no words. I didn’t expect this and this award could’ve gone to anyone. It is a massive honour and a really amazing privilege. There are so many people I can give credit to. My family, parents and wife have been amazing. Credit to my coaching staff and team mates as well.

Lee stated that it’s difficult to single out one innings, but looked at her innings in the West Indies where she scored a 90 in difficult circumstances as one of her best of the past year.

Next on the horizon for Lee is the 2022 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand from 4 March – 3 April, where she will look to play a big part in the Proteas title challenge.
