Tawana shows determination to secure first win of the season

NWU Tawana head coach, Michael Seleka, was proud of how his players stuck to their game plan, especially after going behind in the first half.

NWU Tawana got their first victory of the season in the ABC Motsepe League Stream A, last Friday, with a 2–1 come from behind win against Stilfontein Real Hearts.

Brian Maleka and Atlegang Mmutlane scored the goals that took NWU Tawana to a win at the Fanie du Toit Sports Grounds.

Lefa Lebalelo had a great game on the wing for NWU Tawana.

NWU Tawana head coach, Michael Seleka was proud of how his players stuck to their game plan, especially after going behind in the first half.

“We had a game plan for the opponents; they know us well since we have had a few friendly matches against them in the past. During the week, we told the players the plan and we worked on it in training. We knew they were going to come at us and the plan was to finish them off in the second half, as we knew they would get tired,” says Seleka.

“Unfortunately, we conceded in the first half and, during half-time, I told the players to stick to the game plan. I said if they could score one, they could score five goals. The plan was to bring on speedy players in the second half. As soon as we did that, we started creating more chances and managed to score two. Credit goes to all the players for sticking to the plan,” he added.

Tawana next faces Army Rockets FC in an away game on Saturday, 27 November. They will want to get another three, after a morale-boosting win.
