It was a landmark morning (Thurday, 24 October) for woman’s cricket in North West as the championship winning and utterly successful NW Dragons Women’s team penned a new three year deal with Senwes as their official title sponsor.

The team will now be known as the Senwes North West Dragons Women. This is a step in the right direction for woman’s cricket in Potchefstroom and the greater North West. Not only does this showcase the marketability of women’s cricket but also how far the sport has grown over the past few years.

North West is without doubt the centre point for women’s cricket in the country with a number of Protea players plying their trade here. NW is also at the forefront of producing young and talented cricketers. It makes absolute sense that a big name sponsor such as Senwes associates itself with this winning team.

“This is not only a sponsorship, but rather a partnership. It’s about giving back to women’s cricket. This team has done exceptionally well and we want to show that we contribute to their success as individuals on and off the field,” stated Senwes CEO, Francois Strydom.

“Hope has become reality for these ladies. This team has grown immensely since I started in 2011. We are producing Proteas and we create a winning mentality. This is important for sponsorships and the visibility of women’s cricket,” added coach, Francois van der Merwe.
