Who performed and topped the time sheets at Great Brick Run?

The 2019 Berts Bricks Great Brick Run saw some of the province’s top athletes battle it out to see who would cross the finish line first in the respective and competitive 21- and 10 km races. The men’s winner and the senior (20–34) winner in the 21 km was Joel Mmone in a time of 01:13:28 with Mpho Lebese (01:20:03) taking second place overall and first place in the age category 40–49. Bheki Ngweya (01:20:35) took the third spot with Nico Deerling just missing out on the top three in a time of 01:21:04.

Deerling claimed a personal victory for being the first master’s athlete to cross the finish line, though. Zelda Schultz (01:27:41) was the first woman to finish with Deanne Horn coming second in a time of 01:28:43. Daleen van der Merwe took third overall and first in the veteran category (1:39:14).

Photos: Runners revel in Great Brick Run

In the 10 km race, another local favourite, Mthobisi Baloyi took top honours in a time of 31:29.
Adron Moake (32:29) was a minute behind the pacy Baloyi and had to battle with Armin Botha (32:30) for the elusive second spot. Botha just could not get past Moake and had to settle for bronze.

Juanee Cilliers (43:37) was the first woman to cross the line in the 10 km race with Palesa Lehasa (44:38) taking second and Tenine Smith taking third in a time of 45:09.
