A brilliant unbeaten century from Richardt Frenz (126* off 148 balls) lead Potch Dorp to a well-deserved 80 run win against Ibbies this past weekend at the Witrand Oval in the North West Premier Club Cricket League.
Frenz was at his irrepressible best as he accumulated runs at ease to all corners of the ground.
He hit 12 fours and a six in his knock to take Dorp to a competitive score of 280/5 in 50 overs. Ibbies could only reply with 200 all out as Dorp’s bowlers put a stranglehold on proceedings.

Frenz staved off a fiery Ibbies attack when he came in with Dorp in trouble at 3/2, with big hitters Faan Nel and Shane Dadswell back in the pavilion.
Ockert Gericke and Rohan Kruger also went cheaply and Dorp was staring down the barrel at 32/4. Nico Loubser (4/42) was the key destroyer for Ibbies with the new ball and his pace and accuracy was one of the high points for the students.
Jovaun van Wyngaardt then entered the fray and hit a patient (56 off 90) as he and Frenz rebuilt the early collapse with a 119 run partnership. Potch Dorp captain, Stefan Gericke then kept the momentum going with a quick fire 52 (27) which included 5 fours and 3 humongous sixes.
In reply Ibbies stuttered and could not gain any major momentum with only Michau du Preez (50 off 53) making a meaningful contribution with the willow.
The standout bowlers for Potch Dorp were Clayton Tait (3/32) and Marco Jansen with (2/31).
