The Puk McArthur Stadium will be transformed into a hotbed for South Africa’s finest athletics talent tonight as the third leg of the Athletics South Africa (ASA) Speed Series takes place in Potchefstroom tonight, 15 March 2017.

Athletics stars such as Tuks sprint sensation, Akani Simbine, 400 metre hurdles veteran, LJ van Zyl, Pukke’s Caster Semenya and former Puk, Gena Lofstrand will also compete, amongst many others.

“This Speed Series event is Potchefstroom is unique, as we do not focus as much on the track events. For instance we do not have relay events tonight,” said Jean Verster, President of Athletics Central North West (ACNW)
“There will also be a number of international athletes also competing in this event, which will give the event in Potch a real global flavour,” he added.

To ensure smooth running, ASA has put additional precautionary measures in place to ensure the smooth running of the event with the deployment of a special team of technical experts to guarantee that avoidable hiccups do not happen again, like the one at Speed Series 2 in Mangaung last week.

“As an elite event we are confident of delivering a great and well managed contest as expected by fans, athletes and coaches. We demand a high standard of performance from our athletes and their coaches, so the same is being demanded from our officials at all levels,” said ASA president Aleck Skhosana.

The event starts at 17:00 and is sure not to be missed. Entrance is R30.
