1.Smith has the golden touch

The Varsity Cup has started off with a bang for the Pukke. The men from Potchefstroom have once again prevailed over Tuks from Pretoria – but this time with an A+ to their name. One of the shining stars of their 38-15 victory was fullback and points machine, Rhyno Smith. The Boishaai original has made quite a mark in Potch for the past couple of seasons and will continue to do so. The bottom line is that the Pukke play attractive rugby and Smith is at the forefront of that.

2. Potchefstroom is a viable candidate

Talks of expanding the current SA cricket franchise system have been placed in the spotlight this past week. This will add two new teams to the already expanded franchises. Potchefstroom must surely be a great candidate as North West Cricket is currently strong financially and on top of its game on administration. The recent Africa T20 Cup and Varsity Cricket tournaments were also staged in Potch amidst high praise. A new franchise will inject some more momentum for North West Cricket.
