The blend of music, known as Afrikaans-Core is a mixture of post-hardcore rock music in Afrikaans and was something completely different when it hit Campus Radio stations. Bouwer Bosch’s screams and unique vocals were a hit among Afrikaans youth and their positive lyrics struck a chord among fans and critics alike.

Ruan and Hein Kruger and Benjamin de Jager have moved on to different musical projects, but their first band will always have a special place in the SA music industry. Their song, “Die Beskermer” is a classic that incorporates everything that is great about the band into one.

  1. Moses Metro Man

What do you get when you take Straatligkinders and add a new vocalist to the mix? You get Moses Metro Man, comprising Jako Meyer and the remaining Straatligkinders members, minus Bouwer Bosch.

The band originated after Straatligkinders’s first hiatus and became one of the most successful bands on MK.

The mix of rock with the immense new vocal range of Meyer was something unique at a time when a lot of bands in SA sounded the same.
