Community assistance sought in locating suspect in Ventersdorp rape case
In a plea for community cooperation, Ventersdorp Police seek assistance in identifying and locating a suspect involved in a rape case.
The Ventersdorp Police have issued a public plea for assistance in identifying and locating a suspect involved in a rape case that transpired in Extension 2, Tshing, Ventersdorp, on 1 April 2024.
According to police reports, a 45-year-old woman was walking to visit her boyfriend when she was accosted by two unidentified individuals. The assailant overpowered her, causing distress and raped her. The Ventersdorp community is being called upon to aid law enforcement in bringing the perpetrator to justice.
The suspect is described as a dark-complexioned individual with dark eyes, of medium height, slender build, and with a bald head. Police estimate his age to be in his twenties or younger. A detailed identikit of the suspect has been released to the public to assist in identification efforts.
Sergeant Cicilia Batantse, the Investigating Officer from the Potchefstroom Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit, emphasized the importance of community cooperation in apprehending the suspect. “We urge anyone with information that may aid in identifying and tracing this individual to come forward promptly,” Sergeant Batantse stated.
