Power failure disrupts Potchefstroom and surrounding areas

On Sunday, 02 June 2024, a sudden power failure left Potchefstroom and its surrounding areas without electricity for over an hour.

A sudden power failure disrupted Potchefstroom and its surrounding areas on 02 June, Sunday afternoon, affecting numerous residents and businesses. The outage occurred at approximately 15:40, causing widespread inconvenience throughout the JB Marks Local Municipality.

Eskom technicians were promptly dispatched to address the issue. Upon investigation, they identified that both 132kV/88kV transformers at the Potch DS Substation had tripped. This substation is a critical hub, supplying electricity to Potchefstroom and its neighboring suburbs.
