One plan to improve service delivery in the district

This one-plan document aims to improve service delivery across three spheres of government (local, provincial and national) by coordinating various departments.

The launch of the District Development Model (DDM) one-plan document saw a new chapter in service delivery in the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District written on Monday, 16 October.

This one-plan document aims to improve service delivery across three spheres of government (local, provincial and national) by coordinating various departments.

Previously, these departments had budgets for projects, but with the DDM, every department is aligned with a single budget. Various MECs and mayors in the Dr KK District and local stakeholders in private and public sectors participated in the signing of the document at the J.B. Marks Municipality Dan Tloome Chambers.

The executive major of the district, together with a national champion (minister or deputy minister), leads the District Development Model to improve effective service delivery through teamwork at all levels.

Public Works and Infrastructure Deputy Minister Bernice Swarts, one of the district development champions appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa, could not attend the signing due to a personal matter.

North West Public Works and Roads MEC Gaoage Molapisi commented that signing this document should strengthen service delivery across the district through integrated development.

“Having one plan and budget is important in attending to all service delivery spheres. It cuts out the risk of having too many projects. With this budget, we can address and identify issues and coordinate clearly. This one plan must translate into economic empowerment for people,” added Molapisi. According to him, it is crucial to have a formal structure to lay the foundation for service delivery and ensure that projects are implemented.

“By signing this pledge, we want to commit to attending to various projects as allocated in this plan. The response from stakeholders was also positive during the launch today,” he added.
