The first day of spring was even more special than usual at Potchefstroom Central School as they officially welcomed the new season with the official appointment of their new principal.

Jacques Geldenhuys was officially announced at the new principal at Potchefstroom Central School on Friday, 1 September, with the circuit manager, mr. Michael Mogaki also in attendance.

Geldenhuys was the previous Deputy Principal at Central, a position he held from 2019. He was also the acting principal from September 2022, taking over from the former principal, mr. Chris van den Berg.

Geldenhuys will now officially lead the school into a new era under his leadership as principal.

“I am excited about the opportunity to lead an excellent school and contribute to the growth and success of our school and also to make Central one of the best Primary Schools in the North West,” says Geldenhuys.

“The success of Central is its people: All the beautiful learners and the teachers who go out of their way to provide the best education. We focus on discipline and preparing each learner for high school and life beyond,” added Geldenhuys.

His motivation is simple and comes from learners who sincerely greet him every morning.

“It is amazing to still be a child at heart with them. My dedicated staff are also always willing to jump in and help. What a great privilege it is to have the ability to shape the lives of our young people, help them discover their potential, and prepare them for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead,” explained Geldenhuys.

This driven principal is driven by the desire to create an environment where every learner can flourish and discover and live out their passions in life.

“A successful school is the integrated cooperation between parents, learners and the staff.”

His appointment also comes two days after he celebrated his birthday on Wednesday, 30 August.

This family man loves to spend time in nature, with fishing and hunting two being two of his favourite hobbies.

“I enjoy any type of sport. It’s high time that I start participating in road running again,” added the enthusiastic principal.

“My family is my everything and my two sons keep me on my toes!”
