Kleinplaas parkrun celebrated their 50th event in style on Saturday, 22 July as runners of all ages took on the course on a bitterly cold morning.

The cold though could not keep away the 85 eager runners who wanted to join in on this special milestone day.

This parkrun was also a tutu run as it fell on the 22nd. Any race that occurs on the 22nd of the month is called a tutu run and parkrunners can then also wear a tutu to join in on the fun. This also added to the excitement on the day, which included some other awesome surprises.

The highlight was a short pre-run welcome and motivational speech from runners and Comrades athlete, dr. Adele Broodryk, who finished the 2023 Comrades in second place. Broodryk is also an avid parkrunner, who holds records in various parkruns across the country.

The organisers also arranged a massive cake as well as cooldrink and sweets for runners after they completed the 5km run.
