Renal services unit to provide comprehensive care

Dr Edgar Lutaaya, Nephrologist at Mediclinic Potchefstroom, cut the ribbon to officially open the renal services unit.

Mediclinic Potchefstroom officially opened a dedicated Renal Services unit at the cormer of Jack Hindon Crescent and Rissik Street in Kanonierspark on Friday, 9 June.

Mediclinic Potchefstroom Renal Services has experienced rapid growth since their establishment early in 2020 which has resulted in the need for expansion and relocation to a new premises. The main goal is to serve the community and offer a comprehensive continuum of care.

Dr Edgar Lutaaya, Nephrologist at Mediclinic Potchefstroom, cut the ribbon to officially open the renal services unit. This unit has 12 beds and comprise of six staff members that monitor patients during dialysis therapy.

The focus for Mediclinic Potchefstroom is creating a centre where all Acute Kidney Disease and Chronic Kidney Disease related conditions can be treated and expertly managed within one facility. This includes all acute and chronic renal treatment modalities, patient support, a unique clinical model, world class equipment and technology, qualified and dedicated renal staff, and a dedicated team comprised of a Nephrologist and Physicians.

“Renal care is a chronic, long-term requirement where patients may often receive dialysis therapy for four hours, two to three times a week. A strong relationship and trust between all the parties is essential. For this reason, Mediclinic believes that this offering will serve to support our patients in a way that addresses their need for value and easy access,” explains Greg van Wyk, Chief Executive Officer of Mediclinic Southern Africa.
