It is with great sadness that we announce that Nimrod Fransman passed away on Saturday, 20 May.

He was surrounded by his family in Promosa at the time of his passing. Fransman was born in Sophiatown in 1955 and grew up and attended school in Willem Klopperville, Makweteng. He later moved to Johannesburg to work in the engineering sector in Secunda. He came back to Potchefstroom, where he worked at Pick n Pay, leading to the start of his tuck shop business.

According to the family, Fransman was also a councillor for the J.B. Marks Municipality, community leader and a respected elder in the family. “He was on the ward committee for Ward 13 and the leadership of former MMC Johnson. He also served on the Promosa community clinic committee,” his nephew, Glenville Fransman explained.

“We also served together on the Promosa Primary School SGB from 2010 to 2016. “He was a member of the NWU fatherhood programme under the guidance of Prof. Fazel Freeks. He was also responsible for the EPWP workers,” he added. The family says Fransman will always be remembered as someone who had a great sense of humor, loved a lot and was always the life of the party.

“He was a firm Pirates supporter and will always be remembered as someone who tried his best, despite all circumstances and challenges,” Glenville concluded. The family noted that the funeral will take place at the Promosa community hall and that the details will be communicated on social media.
