On Saturday, 13 May 2023, Amore Tolo, a Mrs South Africa finalist held a Mother’s Day champagne breakfast with the aim of motivating and uplifting women to ‘fill their own cups’.

Before the event, Amore shared that the main purpose was to remind mothers of their worth. “We are always so busy trying to fill everyone’s cup that we forget to take time out to fill ours because we are so busy making sure that everyone else is okay,” she said.

Although she was extremely nervous to host her first event, she was determined to uplift others. “The event was so much more than I had expected,” she said.

At some point during the event, Amore shared that she had to step aside because she could not contain her emotions. “I was filled with tears of joy and was extremely grateful to God for not letting me down,” she said.

Even though Amore could not reach her target, she is truly grateful to those who were able to attend given the short notice. “You could instantly feel the love from the moment you walked in the room,” she added.

Amore said what was meant to be breakfast turned into brunch that lasted until the evening. “We had so much fun and everyone there was truly fulfilled,” she said.

She added that the highlight was how all the guest speakers’ messages were aligned. “We all spoke on confidence and the importance of women taking care of themselves and mothers sometimes putting themselves first,” she said.

“I’m happy with how things turned out,” she concluded. Part of this event was to help Amore gather funds for the Mrs South Africa competition. The aspiring model is still on the lookout for sponsors and is calling on the community to assist her in any way possible.

To progress in the competition, Amore needs to have made a payment by the end of this month and at the moment she still has not been able to receive any sponsors. “I am hoping to get a sponsor to partner with that is willing to walk this journey with me,” she said.
