An event for mothers to gain more confidence

Amore Tolo, a Mrs South Africa finalist will be hosting a Mother's Day champagne breakfast on Saturday, 13 May 2023.

When spiritual leaders Prudence Hartzenburg and Magdalena Mogwera suggested that she host an event to uplift mothers on Mother’s Day, Amore Tolo, a Mrs South Africa finalist, grabbed the idea and decided to turn it into a fundraiser that would inspire mothers at the same time.

The event will be a champagne breakfast on Saturday, 13 May 2023. “The event aims to remind mothers of their worth,” Amore said. “We are always so busy trying to fill everyone’s cup that we forget to take time out to fill ours; we are too busy making sure everyone else is okay,” she added.

Amore said mothers who attend can expect to gain a new sense of confidence. “We often unintentionally find ourselves comparing ourselves to other mothers, who seem to have better control over the things we struggle with. But, the truth is that we are all lacking in at least one area of our life,” she said.

“There is no manual to Motherhood; we want different women to be open about their experiences and uplift one another,” she said.

The guest speakers will include Ezre Van Wyk, a financial advisor, who will touch on financial tips that the women can use on a day-to-day basis, and Palesa Mogoksti, a cancer survivor, who will share her personal experience with the disease and offer advice on how to cope with or support a loved one who has been diagnosed. Dr Bongiwe Tlailane will speak on the importance of mental health. Finally, Motlalepule Maleke will share her experience on how she was forced to face motherhood alone after her husband passed away.

Amore said that although she had initially aimed to host 100 people, sponsors have pulled out, and a few have said they cannot attend due to unforeseen circumstances.

“I am just really trusting in God that everything is working for my good and that His timing is always perfect. “Regardless of how things unfold, I have faith that everything will come together perfectly and that the event will go extremely well,” she said cheerfully.

Amore says she hopes the event will give mothers a new sense of hope and motivation to tackle motherhood. “My biggest wish is for them to feel like every moment was well spent,” she concluded. For more details on how you can attend or donate to the initiative, contact Amore at 066 224 0206.
