VIDEO: Promosa Protest escalates as SAPS fires shots
Since this morning, 17 April, at around 5:00, residents of Promosa gathered on the Dassierand road leading to Promosa to protest against the municipality’s planned move of Mooibank residents to Promosa.
Since this morning, 17 April, at around 5:00, residents of Promosa gathered on the Dassierand road leading to Promosa to protest against the municipality’s planned move of Mooibank residents to Promosa.
The protest started off peaceful but later escalated when police started firing shots at the unarmed residents.

The protest stems after the Exceutive mayor, Gaba Ka Qhele held a meeting with community members on Saturday, 15 April 2023, after it was announced that Mooibank residents would move to the newly allocated land on the Dassierand road leading to Promosa.
Residents feel that the municipality is unfair for wanting to grant Mooiibank residents first preference. This is a developing story.
