A head-on collision between a taxi and a light motor vehicle on the R501 between Carletonville and Potchefstroom killed three people and injured three others this morning (Saturday, 24 December) at approximately 05:10.
The taxi and light motor vehicle were found on the side of the road by ER24 paramedics and other services at 05:58.
ER24 Communications Officer, Russel Meiring, says on closer inspection, medics found a man and two women lying inside the light motor vehicle. “Unfortunately, all three patients had already succumbed to their numerous injuries,” Meiring confirmed.
“A woman, a man and a young girl were found lying outside the vehicles. Medics assessed the patients and found that the woman and child were in critical condition while the man had sustained moderate injuries,” he added.
Prior to transporting the critically injured to Potchefstroom Provincial Hospital, medics treated the patients and provided advanced life support interventions.
