Due to the consistency of load shedding , stand-by generators have been put in place to try and fully refill all storage reservoirs around the city since they are not designed to operate for prolonged hours and pump water at full capacity.

According to Acting municipal communications manager, Jeanette Tshite, areas receiving water from the Vfyhoek Reservoirs such as Vander Hoff Park, Mooivallei Park, Grimbeek Park, Ballie Park, Vyfhoek Mall and Tuscany Ridge, must note that water levels are low hence the water shortages but pumping from the Water Treatment is in progress.

“ Areas receiving water from the Ikageng West Reservoir such as those around Old Ikageng or Ikageng Proper will still experience water shortages due to a mechanical breakdown at the Pump Station. However, the Municipality’s technical team remains onsite to work on resolving the problem,” Tshite explained.

She added that the municipality currently have six Water Tankers on the ground providing water to affected areas but, will have more of them from Monday.

“Councillors and Ward Committee Members are assisting by identifying points where there is a need for water delivery. We therefore encourage residents to continue working with them and report where there is a need for water tankers,” she concluded.
