NPO donates to five families in need

Thuso Ya Bokamoso, a newly established NPO founded by Kamogelo Mogagabe, Khanyisile Sizane and Onalenna Kgomanyane, was able to donate non-perishable items to five families of learners from Keagile Primary School on Saturday, 23 July 2022.

Mogagabe said when they started the NPO they noticed that many school children go to school without essentials such as school shoes and sanitary pads which is why it was important for them to focus on giving back to school children.

Mogagabe added that the realisation that many learners go to sleep on an empty stomach inspired them to provide them with basic food that would go a long way.  “It was extremely heartwarming to see the little difference we were able to make,” she said.

She added that they had intended to provide food for more families but were unfortunately not able to due to a shortage of funds. “ We still intend on going back to the school and providing more families with food because there is a great need,” she added.

The NPO had also planned on running a school shoe drive this month but had to postpone the event because they were not able to reach their target of gathering 60 pairs of shoes. “We really need assistance from the community because we often use money from our own pockets and struggle to give back to larger groups,” Mogagabe said.

Mogagabe added that any form of donations would be greatly appreciated. To hear more about this initiative, contact Khanyisile on 0632009686.
