Kamogelo Sithole’s murder case postponed to September.

The High Court of South Africa; North West Division has postponed 10-year-old Kamogelo Sithole’s murder case to 12–16 September for trial. During pre-trial conferencing, Legal Aid and the state confirmed that they were both ready to go to trial.

Joseph Phage is in police custody after abandoning his bail application. He faces four charges, including murder, attempted murder, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm and kidnapping. Phage will remain in police custody until his next court appearance.

NPA regional spokesperson Henry Mamothame said police reports revealed that Phage was arrested on Monday, 8 November 2021, following an incident where Sithole’s body was found in Phage’s shack in Sonder- water informal settlement in Ikageng.
Phage allegedly kidnapped his ex-girlfriend’s daughter at a primary school in Ikageng and took her to an unknown location. Following the child’s disappearance, the mother reported a case of kidnapping at a local police station. He was arrested at Zakhele informal settlement on Sunday, 7 November 2021. Upon his arrest, he failed to disclose the whereabouts of the child.
On Monday, 8 November 2021, the police proceeded to his home, where they discovered Kamogelo’s body hidden under the bed. Following a sterling investigation by the police, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has assigned Adv. Benny Kalakgosi to ensure that justice is served in court.
