A former lawyer will appear in the Potchefstroom Magistrates’ Court on 30 May 2022 for allegedly being involved in a shady fraud deal. The 47-year-old is currently facing serious charges of theft and contravention of the Attorneys Act.
It is alleged that in November 2011, he was instructed to facilitate a house deal by the seller and the buyer paid R850 000 into the lawyer’s trust account.
According to Hawks spokesperson, Bonnie Nxumalo the accused allegedly used the money for his personal gain.
“He was served with a summons on Tuesday, 12 April 2022 and the matter was reported to the Klerksdorp based Hawks’ Serious Commercial Crime Investigation team,” Nxumalo added.
