Dirty water in Promosa causes health problem

The situation has forced the family to buy water to prevent the children from falling ill any further

Make sure to check the water before you drink. A family that lives in Askie park in Promosa have fallen victim to the dangers of the brown water that comes from their taps.

A resident, who asked not to be mentioned, says they noticed the colour change sometime last month and it’s been that way ever since.“

The water comes out as a brownish colour.  it tastes awful,  it also stinks and it just isn’t safe to drink,” she said. With the resident and her family struggling to make ends meet, they would often drink the water irregardless of its condition but they drew the line once their children got sick.

“We started noticing that everytime they would drink the water they would end up with a runny tummy to the point where it would get servere,” she said.

“We were forced to take them to the clinic and that’s where they discovered that the cause was due to the dirty water,” she added. The situation has forced the family to buy water to prevent the children from falling ill any further.

“They are still sick as we speak and sometimes we don’t have money to buy water, what are we supposed to do?,” she asked.

The resident adds that it’s an extreme inconvenience that her and her family have to save extra money aside to buy water when they already pay rates and taxes.

“The municipality needs to do something about this because they are well aware of the issue,” she said. The Herald asked the municipality for comment but none was forthcoming in time of print.
