Working on Fire donates to children in need

Each package consists of essential items, strategically packed for newborns through to 18 years of age, and includes hygiene products, school supplies, clothing, educational toys, school shoes and stationery.

Despite a challenging year, Working on Fire (WoF) dug deep to collect and raise funds for the WoF Kids Care Packages.

The organisation is based in Potchefstroom and is run by the social development department. Inspired by the legacy of Nelson Mandela, the Working on Fire programme launched the WoF Kids Care Packages in 2018.

Since its inception, WoF has collected and distributed over 7,000 packages to WoF kids. According to the North West spokesperson, Maria Letsholo, more than 50 care packages were donated to the WoF firefighters’ kids between December 2021 and January 2022.

“The WoF Kids Care Package is a gift of hope and appreciation to the children of our participants. It assists greatly in these tough economic times by alleviating some of the year-end/beginning of the year financial burdens,” she said.

Each package consists of essential items, strategically packed for newborns through to 18 years of age, and includes hygiene products, school supplies, clothing, educational toys, school shoes and stationery. The estimated value is R200 per care package.
