Dangerous veld fire in Hennie Bingle street kept at bay

A Veld fire broke out on the Corner of Hennie Bingle and Oudebrug Street on Monday (17 August) around noon.

According to Maki Phika and Jane Mothofo, staff members of one of the homes in Hennie Bingle Street said around noon, the dogs started barking. They heard a loud bang and simultaneously, the electricity went off. The women ran outside after their co-workers told them that the veld was on fire.

They were terrified as they watched the fire spread due to the wind.

Other workers rushed in with buckets of water and tried to extinguish the fire which was rapidly spreading across the veld. Luckily with the help of emergency services, they managed to extinguish the fire.
